Yesterday the Prime Minister announced solemnly that water and electricity rates will eventually be reduced once the government starts buying refined oil at prices that reflect the plummeting value of crude oil.
Dear Dr Gonzi, please pull the other one. The price of water and electricity rates should have been reduced at least 2-3 months ago to reflect the slump in international prices.
Now here is the timeframe of the benefits that government will be dishing out in the coming weeks: between February and March the govenment will distribute the 5 energy saving bulbs to our households and then this will be followed by a reduction in water and electricity rates between March and April.
By the way, if you have not noticed it: European Parliament elections are to be held on 6 June!

Serving us in what in Europe may I ask? Has anyone in Malta opened his eyes lately to see half baked construction all over the place that are neither sold or finished, roads worst the Baghdad after the American bombing raids, Hundreds of illegal immigrants roaming our streets and running the black economy, employers using illegal immigrants to evade having to pay National Insurance,Tax, pay sick leave and leave benefits, Shops full of products to choose from but nobody can afford, A Government that invents taxes (altough the new buzz word is tariff) to hide the realality of Malta’s financial situation, Turisim – is on death row, A new modern taxation to save the world from suffocating itself (carbon emmissions tax, energy surcharges, poluters pay taxes etc ),- Thank God for thinking of leaving this piece of rock sticking out of the water to protect the world), A state of the art hospital building with nobody to organise and run it like a hospital, a cobweb of complicated social services abusers, from unemplyement benefits while working clandestinely to a sudden sharp increase in both failed marrages to unmarried mothers all claiming benefits, Government agencies and department that still lacks monitoring if they are in/out of work, with freephone numbers taken litterally (free for them to use but the public never seems to get through), enjoying their summer siestas unlike the rest of the working world, and tons and tons of other dysfunctional systems in what is suposed to be a modern, EU Country- Don’t you think it’s about time that Citizens start loosing faith in Politicians, Governments,Political Parties, Juducal system, Security and Health System. I think the whole system is about to collapse- Even the EU Central Bank is playing with our forefather’s hard earned savings to bail out European failed greed.

One thing is true, all Politicians lie every time they open their mouth. They all forget what they said after being elected (Every lier has a short memory), and they all abdicate their responsability towards their citizens, they sold out the Nation to the EU and the UN so we have no right to Govrern our own destiny- and that is the mess we left our children, grand children and future Maltese generations.
